Food for thought

„Modern finance, financial literacy”

Digitalization in the financial sector is unstoppable. Digital banking is not unknown for almost anyone, as it is part of our everyday lives. The development of digital solutions leverages positive customer experience, increases stability in the banking processes and fastens financial services. Opportunities for use cases with the smart devices around us are unlimited; only think of the fact that one doesn’t even need to carry bank cards anymore but put their mobile phones next to the terminal to pay. We can also initiate a wire transfer anytime and anywhere using only our phone without any problem.

Do we need bank counters in this changing world at all? The changing user practices and expectations shape the banking environment and banks can maintain their competitive advantage with continuous improvement and renewal. Since we don’t go to bank branches, the face-to-face contact or personal advisory services are replaced by virtual sales in the digital space.

New startups, fintech companies appear on the financial market with the development of technologies and they represent challenge to the current players. One can grant access to bank accounts to third parties or send money via alternative channels – just to mention a few examples.

However, with having much more information available in a significantly smaller amount of time, does financial literacy rise as well? Do we plan our financials any better keeping our future in mind? Do we care more about the security of our financials?

Advice from our mentors

Dávid Tasnádi

What do you propose for those who are thinking of applying for Prezilimpia?

„It is important to have a clear and exact message that they would like to deliver to the audience. If it is all right, then you can start working on presentation and its construction.”

What’s the most important thing when you are evaluating a presentation?

„I’m always looking for the people’s identity and authenticity in the presentation. Then I pay attention on the way of expression.”

What do you think the biggest mistake is being made in the most presentation?

„The most lecturers are overrated the slideshow, they think this is the point. The lecturer is more important, and the success depends on her/him.”

What’s the most important thing which highlights a presentation?

„If I can say only one thing, that would be the lecturer. Everything depends on him/her. If he or she is prepared and able to connect the audience, the message will reach their goal.”

Gizella Nagy

What do you propose for those who are thinking of applying for Prezilimpia?

„They need to make themselves aware that the valuable content is fundamental, but presentation techniques are important as well.”

What’s the most important thing when you are evaluating a presentation?

„Lots of things. For example: What’s the message of the presentation in one sentence? Where is the start and the finish? What does the audience take with them? Are there appropriate skills and knowledge behind the presentation?”

What do you think the biggest mistake is being made in the most presentation?

„Sometimes the presenter wants to deliver too much information within a limited time period, but little is sometimes more.”

What’s the most important thing which highlights a presentation?

„It is a basic criterion that the speech should be customized for the current audience. If you create an excellent presentation and the audience can’t comprehend it, it is pointless.”

Gabriella Movik

What do you propose for those who are thinking of applying for Prezilimpia?

„It is important to choose a topic in which they are involved.”

What’s the most important thing when you are evaluating a presentation?

„Its impression on the audience. What sort of influence can the lecturer have on the audience? I believe this is the most important aspect of a presentation.”

What do you think the biggest mistake is being made in the most presentation?

„Little is sometimes more. In my view, the presenters often want to deliver everything in a complicated way using complex terminology, but the presentation cannot be about them. A good presentation is made for the audience and it has to be easy to understand and to follow.”

What’s the most important thing which highlights a presentation?

„It is important to have a message. A presentation is memorable if the audience is doing something in another way in their everyday lives after they have listened to the presentation.”

Erika Seres

Is there anything that you would like to highlight related to last year’s mentoring process? If yes, what would that be?

„I was very happy because I had the chance to get to know the finalists of Szeged a little better. I was especially surprised by the motivation of foreign students during the preparation. I like working with them.”

What do you propose for those who are thinking of applying for Prezilimpia?

„Practice – practice –practice! You should not postpone the preparation until the last minute and you should also try to make a speech in front of a test audience. You should ask for feedback. One more thing which is more important than this: Be positive and determined.”

What’s the most important thing when you are evaluating a presentation?

„I try to concentrate on the enthusiasm of competitors, the passion which convinces me about the fact that they know and enjoy the topic. They can express their own ideas and share their opinion. I immediately realize when the speech is learnt word by word and doesn’t come from the heart of competitors.”

What do you think the biggest mistake is being made in the most presentation?

„They are afraid of the mistake. A good presentation is not about perfection. It is more important for the presentation to have value; message and it stimulates the audience to think about it and act upon it. If I have to highlight that a major mistake is when somebody reads the slideshow back to the audience.”

What’s the most important thing which highlights a presentation?

„Passion and connection with the audience.”
